Leila Murrieta

Leila graduated with highest honors in Studio art with a focus in photography, and Chicano/a Studies. When Leila moved to Albuquerque and started taking classes in Chicano/a studies her perspectives were altered for the better. These classes shaped and wove their ways into her artistic practices, she now uses influences from her own upbringing in a mixed household to explore middle spaces. Leila held her Senior Thesis show titled “Nepantla” at El Chante Casa de Cultura. She is now creating programing for community outreach, sustainable urban living at El Chante and continuing her exploration of the middle space and what it means to be a Mexican American.
