Join us as we celebrate the poetry of D'Nessa McDaniel.

D’Nessa McDaniel was born on June 19th, 1999 in Albuquerque,New Mexico. Over her artistic career has become an active member of the poetry community. This young poet has been writing all her life, but only Discovered slam poetry her freshman year of highschool. Since then, D’Nessa has been apart of the Albuquerque Youth Slam team (ABQ UNIDOS) whom compete against other youth poets in the southwest, she was also the Poet Laureate at her home high school , placed 3rd place at the New Mexico Poetry Out Loud State Finals, spoken at several black lives matter marches, and has traveled to other states to be apart of workshops and poetry slam competitions. D’Nessa has successfully published poems with the San Antonio Library in the “ Young Pegasus Anthology” book of 2018. Her work varies between genres, but mostly consist of Black Activism themed writing.
